Description
Victorians had a great sense of whimsy. Pattern, design, stripes, swirls. Somehow it all came together. They borrowed from every historic period known to man. This 1870's lyre base design probably harkened back to ancient Greece. The porch railing was found on a recently restored cottage in Ocean Grove, NJ.
