Description

If I remember correctly, these two gentlemen in the painting were brothers. They were also ambassadors from France to the court of Elizabeth the First of England. The viewers formed a composition which seemed as though they were an extention of the portrait itself. The painting is on view at the National Gallery of London. The artist made extensive use of objects as symbols with hidden meanings.
