Description
Present day Chatham Light is the third on this location. The first collapsed into the sea from beach erosion. There were originally two towers. One was removed to Nausett Beach. This is popular tourist destination. Oversize buses disgorge passengers for five minutes then whisk them away to some second rate chowder house. Nearby is the charming town of Chatham. It is historic, beautiful, and nice for a leisurely stroll on a late summer afternoon. The light on the Cape lends itself to painting. Edward Hopper was a big fan. His canvasses capture this unique quality. Make sure to ride scenic 6A from the Cape Cod Canal out to Brewster.
