Description
There is nothing so nice as the warm glow of a Tiffany lamp to light your room. A little out of favor now as mid century modern runs its course. The Tiffany electric lamp and shade was the result of need. The incandescent bulb was invented in 1879 by Edison and Swann in England. Edison got to the finish line first. Gas illumination was hot and dangerous. And ruined upholstery and curtains. So it was time to move forward. Tiffany had a lot of this special glass on hand from other non lighting projects. Windows screens, and decorative items. So it was a natural progression. Bulbs at that time were about 10-15 watts in brightness. As time went on they were able to improve brightness. Unfortunately the shades couldn't take the increased heat. They used led solder. As fashions changed after World War One these lamps were banished up to atticks or back bedrooms.
