Description
The view from Prague Castle is pretty spectacular. High end apartments face the Vlatava River, Most of these were constructed in the pre World War One Secession Style. A time of permanence and optimism that disappeared as the war ground on for five years. As a tourist, this all seems enchanting. But if you took the tram farther out from the city center, you see another Prague. Much more modest. Small apartments and neighborhood stores like anywhere else. Drab apartment blocks left over from the Communist era. Neglected older buildings. But you'll also see a lot of new interesting contemporary architecture. Interesting town.
