What a great capture. I used to live in an old Victorian in San Francisco. I love your images of these beautiful old homes. f/l/p

Just love those deep greens and blues offset by black and sharp white contrasts. A delight, Ira! L/F

Thanks Ira for submitting this image to San Francisco By The Bay Art - it has been featured! - There is something moodily appealing about this great Victorian house capture!

Artist's Description

San Francisco is a hilly town. So hilly that in the early days before grading, some people needed ladders or steep stairs to reach their houses. That may sound ridiculous, but old photographs show this. I find it amazing and miraculous that any
neighborhoods survived the earthquake and fire of 1906. Here is a fine example of early Victorian splendor.

About Ira Shander

Ira Shander

Hello, and thank-you for taking time to visit my web site. As a long time illustrator specializing in pen and ink, photography developed as a means for me to become expressive in color. My specialty as a line artist has always been history and architecture. I've created series for major companies, publishers, and cultural institutions throughout the United States. Take time to visit some of my galleries. I welcome commissions such as house portraits and hobby related subject matter. Again, take a peek at the galleries to get a better idea. I hope that you enjoy both means of expression and visit often. Thanks, Ira Shander
