David certainly gets around in Florence. There's the original in the Accademia. And then this copy in the Piazza della Signoria. And then a third in the Piazzale Michelangelo across the Arno with a great view of the city.

Thanks Catherine. This is one of many copies floating around Italy. The model must have been an adolescent based on the body proportions. The body hadn't caught up with the head.

That's a good question Meg. I don't know the answer. But now that you mention it, the original seems more graceful. I remember the guide saying the head was made larger because it was being viewed outside. I thought maybe the model was an adolescent because of the large hands and head. Who knows.
