Though small in size, this lighthouse is vital to shipping heading into Cleveland harbor. This particular light was built in 1911. It originally had a fourth order Fresnel lens which is now in a science museum. It was automated in 1965. During winter storms large waves and spray turn the lighthouse into n ice palace. Storms can be pretty severe. The small building originally housed a fog horn to alert shipping.
