Description
Two Swiss chalet style Victorians in Ocean Grove, New Jersey. These two beauties managed to survive super storm Hurricane Sandy. Sandy ravaged the north coast beach communities on into New York and its surrounding Burroughs. When I first visited Ocean Grove 35 years ago, it was a bit down at the heels. Now it has recovered and never looked better.
It was originally founded in the mid 19th century as a dry Methodist religious resort. There are still original small summer cottages remaining. The storm came through nearly blowing off its roof damaging the famous organ. The roof is back with new visitors coming and enjoying this unique and beautiful community.

Thank you Julie. Such a nice place to visit and enjoy the day. Lots of whimsical Victorian architecture to photograph and draw.

Love this architecture
Ira Shander replied:
Issie, This is a wonderful old Victorian town by the seashore on the north coast of the state of New Jersey near New York City. People smile and say hello to strangers. I'll be posting more soon. Take care. Ira
