Description
Built in the mid 1880's, this Victorian style San Francisco firehouse survived a lot of history. Located in the Alamo Square area; it underwent several cosmetic changes until it was replaced sometime in the 1950's. Even Ansel Adams photographed it. According to photographs, the neighborhood filled in very quickly with homes in the 1890's. Therefore wedging it in to a very busy thoroughfare. Although designed in the 1880's, some of the building harkens back to the gothic revival style of the 1840's. There were two shamrock round windows over the side doors.
