Description
In the coal regions of northeastern Pennsylvania you'll find great natural beauty. The mountains and valleys are haunting in the way light moves across the landscape. Although most of the towns aren't doing so well economically these days, the wreckage of the recent industrial past is a stark reminder of what once was. If you go hiking there are mysterious tunnels from abandoned railroad projects. Where there should be a bridge, there is a steep drop into a canyon with rushing water below. Coal may not be king anymore, but it is still mined in ugly open cut lesions scarring the landscape.
