Description
When I was a young man, I found several albums of early Photochromes put together by a wealthy American. These photos were taken in the 1890's judging by the clothing. The Photochrome company was based in Switzerland, They had developed a color lithographic process to bring black and white images to life. Here in America, the Detroit Post Card Company was licensed to use their process. Traveling to Russia in the 1890's was considered way off the beaten track. Young Nicholas and Alexandra had just ascended the throne. This image shows the Great Bell of Moscow. A great faith called for a great bell. The largest in the world. The bell was cast in the 1730's. Unfortunately a series of tragic mishaps caused the bell to crack; and sadly was never rung. The story of this bell can be told elsewhere. But it can still be seen on display in the Kremlin Complex today.

While the bell has changed little, the buildings that surround it have..... Lovely scene....
