Description
This was a sample page from a printing company showing off their fine four color process. This rakish 1912 Speedwell was photographed in front of New York's Grant's Tomb. Speedwells were manufactured in Dayton, Ohio. In 1913, a disastrous flood inundated the factory ruining their business. They never recovered. And in 1915 they went into receivership and closed. These particular cars had great lines. During this early period many of the small companies could not contend with the ups and down of the market place. They were often run by inventors and craftsmen. Cash flow and suppliers of components were not always reliable. $2500.00 was a lot of dough in 1912. But still under the price of more luxurious brands.
