Description
As with many inventions, the incandescent electric bulb was not Edison's alone. His genius was to envision networks of lighting. This simple invention literally lit up the world. Gas lighting was smelly, dim, and messy. It ruined fabrics and interiors. And, was dangerous. Unfortunately incandescent bulbs use 95% of its power to give off 5% of its light. LEDS now mimic the warmth of the old ones and use a tenth the power.
And, they last over 20 years. So farewell old friend. You served us well.

Fantastic shot. Love the light.
Ira Shander replied:
Thank-you Meg. Incandescent bulbs have a lovely reassuring warmth and beauty. And soon they'll be history. Mainly because they use use so much energy to generate light.
