Thank-you Devan. This is one of the earlier suspension bridges of its type in Europe. It was completely blown up except for the towers at the end of the Siege of Budapest in 1945. Then rebuilt from the ruins at the bottom of the Danube.

Wow Ira -- what an amazing scene! Great colors, detail, clarity, and lighting. Perfectly composed! Tweeted and favored. L/T/F

Wonderful shot! And beautiful light!
Ira Shander replied:
I love Budapest. It's beautifully situated on the Danube. It's old. Even the Romans dropped by 2000 years ago. And so did everyone else.
Kellice Swaggerty
This is outstanding, Ira! L/F FB
Ira Shander replied:
Thank you Kellice. This bridge is still a wonder. It was one of the earliest suspension bridges of its type in the world. And was completely reconstructed after the Second World War after being blown up by retreating German soldiers in 1945.
Eva Kato
Beautiful light and composition.
Ira Shander replied:
Eva, thank-you for bringing the comma problem to my attention. Originally there were commas. Sometimes when I go back to earlier posts, I find information missing. And have to put it back. I'm not sure what happened. Anyway, I do love Budapest as you can tell.
