Description
The London Eye is an extraordinary piece of machinery. Gracing the Thames like a gigantic bicycle wheel, the view can't be beat. Ferris wheels have always captured people's imaginations. At the Columbian Exposition of 1893 in Chicago, the Ferris wheel driven by an electric motor, came to symbolize the event. In Vienna's Prater there still exists an ancient Ferris wheel that may have been purchases after one of the American world's fairs closed. Not sure. Vienna's wheel was featured prominently in the Orson Well's film "The Third Man" staring Joseph Cotton. Cotton almost got thrown out at the top.
